Gap in Academic Syllabus

What is the present scenario?

Problem #1
Thousands of students are graduating every year from so many institutes all over the country. After graduation many of them join Master immediately without opting for a job, others start hunting for a job. Only a handful of the job hunters find a suitable job, the remaining lot start doing courses one after another from different institutes with the hope of getting jobs.

Small institutes have mushroomed all over the city offering various courses which promises a job but none of them keep up their promises as their programs are not full proof and are only made to generate money. The students end up paying huge fees for such courses and at the end when nothing happens they join another course with another institute.

It is helplessly noted that students after graduation are just students with a degree certificate and are not employable as our education system is basically THEORY-CENTRIC. They study only the university syllabus for three years if they are pursuing their Bachelor or two years if they are doing their Master.

Few university syllabus does not match with the industry demands and for the few universities where the syllabus matches the industry requirements, the students are not trained enough so that they can be absorbed by the companies. Most of the institutes only teach what ever is there in the books according to the university syllabus and the result is that they are producing Bachelors and Masters who can't even communicate in English, or even know how to address each other, or know how to write an official e-mail for example. It is not the fault of the student but the negligence of the institute where they are studying. It is the duty of the institute to impart quality education which not only covers the university syllabus but also the entire development of the student to make him/her a complete educated and employable person.

Problem #2
Students are not aware of the various opportunities and job prospects after their 12th standard. They don't know what they want to be and what they are good at. Most of them don't have a dream, don't have a target - don't know their destiny. It is the responsibility of the parents and teachers to guide them and help them take the right decision. But owing to various reasons it does not happen and students take up any degree or as taken up by their friends without looking at the job opportunities for the same.

It has been noted that students in most of the institutions are not aware about the job prospects even when they are in their final semester and they are not equipped with the right skills and hence don't get a job even after completion of their studies.

What is the solution?
